Children are the most affected party in society by the consequences of war. Also, they are the most vulnerable members of society due to situations where armed conflict breaks out. Considering this, there are the six most common identified violations such as recruitment and use of children in war, killing, sexual violence, abduction, attacks on schools and hospitals, and denial of humanitarian access. This is a sad reality in our society. Therefore, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.

International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is celebrated on 4th June. This day is an annual observance to acknowledge the pain suffered by children around the world who are victims of physical, mental, and emotional abuse. It also provides an opportunity for the global community to the goal of ending all forms of violence against children. This day is used to protect the rights of children by the United Nations. This is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This Convention is the most rapidly and widely ratified international human rights treaty in world history.

International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression was created on August 19th, 1982. Initially, this day was focused on victims of the 1982 Lebanon War. It was established by the United Nations Resolution ES-7/8. On August 19th, 1982 the General Assembly on its 31st plenary meeting considered the question of Palestine at its resumed seventh emergency special session. Here, they considered the great number of innocent Palestinian and Lebanese children victims of Israel's acts of aggression and also decided to commemorate the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. 

The number of violations is increasing against children in many conflict zones globally. 250 million children are living in countries and areas affected by conflict. The Long-lasting physical and mental harm of children due to violence is affected into their adulthood. It is caused to restrict the development of children. Therefore, need to ensure accountability for violations of the rights of children and to protect children from targeting by violent extremists. Also, need to promote international humanitarian and human rights law.
