The General Assembly adopted this resolution (A/RES/60/252) in March 2006. Later, the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference decided to celebrate both events on 17th May as World Telecommunication and Information Society Day in Antalya, Turkey, in November 2006.
