On December 12, 1901, Marconi sent and received the first wireless message across the Atlantic Ocean, from Cornwall, England, to a military base in Newfoundland, Canada. Also, Marconi’s message traveled more than 2,000 miles from Poldhu in Cornwall, England, to Newfoundland, Canada. He tried to send these radio signals across the Atlantic Ocean, ignored of predictions that the radio waves would be lost as the earth curved over that long distance.
