Alexander Graham Bell was an American inventor, scientist, and teacher of the deaf. His most famous invention was the telephone, and he obtained a patent for his telephone in 1876. His mother was almost deaf, and his father taught elocution to the people of the deaf. This reason affected Alexander’s later career choice as a teacher of the deaf.

However, Alexander Graham Bell refused to use a telephone during his study, and he feared it would distract him from his scientific work. Also, Alexander Graham Bell launched the Bell Telephone Company in 1877.
