Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin became the first President of Russia on July 10, 1991. Also, he was the first democratically elected leader in Russian history. The presidential inauguration ceremony was held at the State Kremlin Palace, and it was limited to thirty minutes. Until his resignation on December 31, 1999, Yeltsin led Russia through a stormy decade of political and economic.
