Nil Diya Pokuna is located at a distance of 13.3 km from Ella. This is one of the adventure travel destinations in Sri Lanka. Before the journey, travelers need to obtain a guide from the ticket counter. The guide provides headlights and instructions for a safe cave hike. This is an ideal place for cave adventures in Sri Lanka and one of the most exciting and beautiful experiences in Ella. This cave is home to a large number of bats.

The initial part of the cave is a direct descent for about 50m. A rope is available to help the climb down this place. Then, travelers can see the cave, and its size is astonishing. Also, it is dark in the cave. There can be seen the most amazing natural art forms in the cave. Travelers can reach the pond within about 45 minutes. This pond has a crystal-clear water surface. Here, travelers should follow the instructions of the guide for safety. This journey is challenging however, it is a great experience in life.

As per folklore, King Ravana brought Sita from India and kept her in a very safe and comfortable place. Most people believe this is the place where King Ravana kept Sita. Also, they believe this place is a ruined underground palace. The cave rock is stretched for many miles, and it is said that there were several tunnels under this rock.
