Dunhinda Waterfall is located in the lower central hills in Badulla District of Uva Province in Sri Lanka. It is 5 kilometers away from Badulla town. This fall is 64 meters (210 ft) high, and it is created by the Badulu Oya. This is one of the most attractive waterfalls in Sri Lanka.
The access to Dunhinda Waterfall is open from 7 A.M. to 5 P.M. Travelers can reach Dunhinda Waterfall through Badulla - Mahiyangana main road.
Travelers need to go 1.25 km in the jungle from the entrance to reach this place of the waterfall. This route is difficult and risky due to there being 70 to 100 feet of abysses on either side of this road in several places. Also, monkeys are on both sides of the road. However, this is a frequently used path due to the popularity of the waterfall.
The down of the waterfall has a large pool. The water of this fall creates a thin cloud when it is fallen into the pool, and also it shows a misty appearance in front of the waterfall during the rainy season. Hence, this waterfall is known as "Dunhinda". Before reaching the main waterfall, travelers can see another waterfall. This waterfall is known as Punchi Dunhinda. Here, the water stream is more dangerous. Hence, travelers can't bathe in this place.
